it shows both masks to show is like comedy and tragedy. it shows comedy because the author is most likely trying to show how revenge can be. Also it shows how the crow finds his revenge to be funny and enjoys killing people that hurt him. and also tragedy because of how he came to be the crow. He got killed by a group of guys that killed him and his girl. and also when he meets the little girl it show that hes not that evil and he cares for her.
